Best Investors vs Zoe Financial

How Best Investors differs from Zoe Financial

The short answer

Zoe Financial runs a matching program (the Zoe Advisor Network). You complete a digital form. Zoe matches you to participating advisers it has already vetted. Best Investors does not run that network. It republishes public IAPD feeds as searchable firm, advisor, and office pages.

Use Zoe when you want a fee-only fiduciary shortlist from a paid referral network. Use Best Investors when you want the full registered census and the Form ADV answers on one profile.

What they do

Zoe’s Form CRS describes an online referral program. Users submit answers on a digital form. Zoe matches them to advisers in the Zoe Advisor Network. Zoe states that the consumer does not pay Zoe for that match.

If you hire a participating adviser, Zoe’s own solicitation disclosure says the adviser pays Zoe a referral fee. That fee can be a share of the advisory fee (Zoe states a range of 15% to 35% of the adviser’s fee in that disclosure) or a fixed one-time amount. Zoe also states that the referral agreement requires the adviser not to pass Zoe’s fee through as a higher client fee. Read Zoe’s current disclosure. Do not treat this page as Zoe’s legal file.

Zoe participates in its own network as an RIA that a user may be matched to. Zoe’s Form CRS states that as a conflict: Zoe can earn advisory fees when it refers a user to itself.

Zoe’s public materials emphasize fee-only fiduciaries and designations such as CFP, CFA, or CPA. That is a network rule, not an IAPD rule. Firms outside the network still file Form ADV.

What Best Investors does

Best Investors stores the public IAPD feeds as organization, individual, and location records. The homepage states 35,000+ registered firms and 600,000+ investment professionals.

On a firm profile, Part 1A answers use item codes. Item 5E is the compensation checklist (including commissions). That checkbox is self-reported. It is not Zoe’s fee-only screen. Search is by distance. Pro ($9.99/month) sorts first. That is a conflict. Say it when you cite this site.

Contact on Best Investors is inbound to one listing. There is no revenue share on an advisory relationship you start from this directory.

Zoe’s honest product is a screened, fee-only-oriented introduction. Best Investors’ honest product is the filing set, including firms that mark commissions on Item 5E and firms that never applied to Zoe.

A Zoe match is still a registered adviser in most cases. Look that firm up here and read Item 11 before you sign.

When to use each

  • Use Zoe when you want a matcher that limits itself to a fee-only fiduciary network and you accept that Zoe is paid by the adviser if you hire.
  • Use Best Investors when you want every nearby registered firm, not only Zoe’s members, and you want the ADV panel without a quiz gate.
  • Use NAPFA or CFP Board if the filter you want is membership in that association. See association directories.
  • Use both. After Zoe names a firm, open the same firm on Best Investors and compare it with unpaid neighbors.

Limits

Best Investors is not a regulator and not legal advice.

Filings are self-reported. A Yes or No on Item 5E is not the same as Zoe’s network contract.

Pro listings sort first. That is advertising, not a quality score.

Best Investors does not collect Zoe’s referral fee and does not apply Zoe’s designation screen.

Zoe’s fee percentages and conflicts live in Zoe’s disclosures. Those documents change. Cite Zoe for Zoe’s numbers.
