Wealthtender is an independent find-an-advisor directory with compliant client reviews. Best Investors is a census directory of the full IAPD filing system with item-level Form ADV on every registered firm.
Use Wealthtender when you want verified client reviews to guide your choice. Use Best Investors when you need the complete population of registered advisers with their self-reported AUM, services, and disclosures on one page.
Wealthtender operates as a curated directory of opted-in advisors. The differentiator is compliant client reviews built for financial-services advertising rules. Advisors pay a monthly listing fee. Wealthtender publishes that price on its own marketing pages.
The platform includes specialist guides and educational content alongside the directory. Reviews are moderated for advertising-rule compliance. That review product is the reason to use Wealthtender.
Wealthtender does not attempt to catalog every registered advisor. It focuses on quality control through curation rather than census coverage.
Best Investors downloads the public IAPD bulk feeds covering 35,000+ registered firms and 600,000+ investment professionals across the United States. Every registered investment adviser appears with their Form ADV Part 1A answers displayed as item codes such as 5F(2)(c) (regulatory AUM) and 5G(1) (financial planning services).
The site provides geographic search by zip code or city. Each firm profile shows the complete self-reported filing including assets under management, fee structure, disciplinary history, and business practices. User-submitted reviews exist but are not Wealthtender's certified-review product.
Pro listings ($9.99/month) sort first in search results and directories. Treat the Pro badge as advertising, not as a quality score.
| Feature | Wealthtender | Best Investors |
|---|---|---|
| Advisor coverage | Curated, opted-in listings | IAPD census (homepage: 35,000+ firms) |
| Client reviews | Compliance-focused product | User-submitted, not that product |
| Form ADV access | Not the focus | Item-level Part 1A on the firm profile |
| Geographic search | Featured advisors by area | Registered offices by zip |
| Advisor marketing | Monthly listing fee (their site) | Pro $9.99/month sort |
Wealthtender serves as a quality-controlled marketplace where advisors compete on reviews and specialist expertise. Best Investors functions as a filing lookup system where every registered adviser appears with their regulatory disclosures regardless of marketing spend.
The review systems are not the same. Wealthtender's reviews are built as a compliance-focused product. Best Investors allows user-submitted reviews. Those reviews are not IAPD data and are not a substitute for Form ADV Part 2A.
Best Investors is not a regulator and not legal advice. A clean profile here is not a government endorsement.
Form ADV answers are self-reported by the adviser. Best Investors does not audit AUM claims or verify Item 11 disciplinary narratives.
Pro placement means a paid listing can appear above a closer unpaid listing. Distance remains the geographic sort, with Pro applied after that fetch. Read Pro badges as advertising, not as quality scores.
User reviews on Best Investors are user-submitted. They are not Wealthtender's certified-review product and they are not IAPD data. Read the Form ADV panel (and the brochure on IAPD) before you treat a star rating as diligence.
For credentials that Form ADV does not encode as a membership filter, see association directories.
