SearchIAPDFirm

This page runs SearchIAPDFirm. Type a firm name. The results open the IAPD firm record on this site.

Run SearchIAPDFirm

Agents call this name on the Fintel Discovery server.

What the agent sent

{
  "tool": "SearchIAPDFirm",
  "query": "Fidelity"
}

Type the name or the CRD in the box. Do not type SearchIAPDFirm into the box. That string is the tool. The box is the argument.

A result opens a firm page or an adviser page.

How to use SearchIAPDFirm

SearchIAPDFirm is the Fintel Discovery name for an IAPD firm search. The agent has a firm name and wants the firm CRD, registration, and office. This page runs that search on the firms in this directory. It is the same job as adv_search_firm. Use this page when the query string is SearchIAPDFirm.

Type this

  1. Type the start of the RIA firm name. The example is Fidelity.
  2. Keep it to the legal start of the name. Add Inc or LLC only when the shorter word returned too many rows.
  3. Press Look up. Choose the firm whose city matches the office in the question.
  4. Open /firm/{id}/. Copy the firm CRD from the page.
  5. Hand that CRD to GetIAPDFirmDetail if the agent called the detail tool next.

The match is a prefix. Fidelity finds names that start with Fidelity. A name that only contains the word later in the string will not appear. Shorten from the right when you get no rows.

Read the result

Each row is one firm record and one CRD. The firm page holds the Form ADV fields we store. Read those fields on the page. Then confirm the CRD on IAPD. This tool is for registered investment adviser firms. A broker-dealer that is not in the adviser filings may be missing. Try SearchBrokerCheckFirm, and still confirm on BrokerCheck.
