My wife and I own a farm with a total of 153 acres, approximately 85 acres of which is tillable. We receive annual rental payments from the farmland operator and Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) payments from the Farm Service Agency (FSA) division of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). My wife and I do not materially participate in the farming process and expenses have exceeded rental income annually since 2017.
