DALLAS FELLOWS POSITION: mentor, friend NATURE: Our focus is on developing leadership skills in ourselves, and passing them on to college students based on the person and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth. We engage young people in a focused, two month exploration of their unique purpose and vocational path. Each intern will hopefully see and learn how to live a completed life of faith--integrating work, family, and community. The internship is designed to demonstrate, and teach young people to live out their faith while becoming leaders in their families, communities, marriages and professions. We emphasize that all work is sacred, while recognizing that leadership in these areas is too often disconnected from faith and values. Our hope as friends is not only to continue to learn ourselves, but to show the interns that all areas of life require faith, and to see Jesus as the Greatest teacher and model in every domain of life. An active daily interaction between each other and community of families and friends is essential to learning. We arrange an apprenticeship style of learning, which requires a serious commitment on the part of each intern, as well as the mentors and the community of adults dedicated to engaging them in an ongoing dialog. The fellows are exposed to leadership modeled for them on a daily basis.
